What a Vibe Check Actually Measures
Six short daily prompts, one honest answer each. A plain explanation of what the Econscious vibe check is asking and why.
The vibe check is the part of Econscious students ask about most, usually because the name sounds lighter than the thing it does.
Six prompts, six days
Each day of the cycle asks about one area — waste, water, energy, travel, consumption and community. One prompt, one honest answer, under a minute.
It is a self-report, and that is deliberate
We are not trying to audit anyone. A self-report that a student answers truthfully every day is far more useful than a verified measurement they stop submitting after a week. The score is a mirror, not a grade.
What it does not do
It does not compare a student in a city hostel with a student in a village and call one of them better. Context varies enormously, so the score rewards direction of travel rather than absolute level.
Reading your result
A rising trend over four weeks means the habits are taking. A flat one usually means a prompt does not apply to your situation — tell us, because that is how the prompts improve.
The full scoring method, including how streaks are weighted, is set out in our Scoring Guide.
